| We have had this portable dvd player for about 3 years. It has really been worked over by the kids, but never missed a beat until my daughter slammed the screen down too hard and it cracked. We started shopping for a new player, but haven't come across anything as excellent, so we're going to buy it again. There are a few things I really like about this player. It's super simple to mount and to make it really secure on the head rest so it doesn't bounce around. I like that you can easily detach it from the mounting plate and take it somewhere without having to fiddle with the mounting strap. The battery isn't very long, but you can get one or two movies out of it on one charge. I place it on my headrest on the driver's side, and I can really easily reach back and push buttons for the kids (who can't really reach it when they're strapped in their car seats. I can even change disks while driving, although that's harder to do and not really the safest choice. But it can be done. The screen can be raised or lowered, and it tilts. The tilting arm did start to sag a bit after a couple of years, but it was only a problem on super rough roads, and even then I'd just pull it back up easily. The charging cord is nice and long. The picture is brilliant. The carrying case (can't remember if that cost extra) fits a bunch of DVDs and is simple to use and carry. All in all, a fantastic player. My *only* complaint is that we can't get this model as a dual player. Oh well. |

This is not so much a review as it is a comment on what I have read; Panasonic has durabilty, lots of features, and quality to their products; now comes this portable DVD player; why am I interested? well for one reason, I have a slight paralysis of my right side, so the "open" button is on the left; I have no difficulty with the rest of the controls; second, people who wish a remote; given the fact that there is less to go without a remote gives the unit longer life, infrared I believe.
Not all but most DVD portables have a right sided "open"button; this is on the left. Yes resolution is a factor if you ae going to be watching a lot of computer generated movies Marix, Star Wars etc, I like the ancient movies; BW some silent, so there is no need for a higher resolution player unless I am going to watch a lot of current movies (those with only technology)
I have no stock in Panasonic, but have used their products, and like them! A remote is a preference; most CD portable players have no remote, so why not sacrifice, and delight in Panasonic for what it offers! |
