| Item was shipped very quick and in fantastic condition! Very pleased with the color as that was a concern of mine. Still need to install the product but manual seems pretty simple. |

Had the unit professionally installed with the wires coming into the console, so its very low profile and most people reckon it was OEM from the factory. We had the installers run A/V jacks into the console so we could plug in our iPods and have the video show up on the screens. For my 5 and 2 year ancient boys, it is a fantastic addition to the car and makes long trips to see family much simpler. We also ran the sound through the car sterio system so that it can be heard all the way in the back of our Honda Pilot, and people in the back seat can see the monitors just fine.
Since each unit has its own DVD player, one person can watch the iPod video while the other watches a DVD, or they can both watch the same movie from the iPod. This lead to the only thing I wish was better about the system.
The only thing that I want to have improved is a wiring issue. For both monitors to show the same video, you can link the two DVD players together when playing DVDs. But since we mainly use our iPods we were forced to choose between the monitors showing the same video from our iPod jacks, OR from the master monitor(you have to choose one as master and one as slave when you have it installed, but they are both the same so it doesn't matter which one you pick, its just a wiring choice). This means that we can't have the same video from our iPods show up on both monitors for one movie, then switch to DVD and have the DVD show up on both monitors. Not an issue for us, but something to consider if you use an external video source.
Part of this also affects the audio. If you plot on using DVDs and link the monitors together, the sound will also link and play out of both monitors, but because we use iPods it will only play the sound on one of the monitors because there is only one set of inputs. So if one person wants to watch a movie from the iPod, and the other wants to watch a DVD, we have to make sure the iPod watcher is in the right seat, or they won't be able to hear it from the speakers, or we would have to run the headphones to the other monitor. Again, not really an issue for us since we mainly play the audio through the car speakers, but something to be aware of when thinking about buy.
We have not played with the video games yet, but the controllers and accessories seem to be of standard quality for a third party controller (which is to say not quite as solid as your name brand PS or Wii controllers). The color of the units match our vehicle nearly perfectly, but since everyone has different color cars this is a personal issue.
Bottom line: We have been very pleased with this system. Our kids like it. The video quality is quite excellent and the audio quality is acceptable from the small speakers on the unit. We did a lot of research prior to making this buy, and for our needs this was the perfect fit. |
